First images of Fardeen Khan from Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s OTT series “Heeramandi” have been released on Netflix

The first glimpse of actor Fardeen Khan from the new historical drama series “Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar,” which is director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s first over-the-top project, was released by streaming provider Netflix on Saturday.

The streamer also revealed the character posters for Taha Shah and veteran actor Shekhar Suman, together with their son Adhyayan Suman, from the program, which is set during India’s liberation fight movement.

Khan is returning to acting in “Heeramandi” after an almost 15-year hiatus. His latest appearance was in “Dulha Mil Gaya” (2010).

The fifty-year-old actor, who has acted in films such as Jungle, Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya, Bhoot, Dev, and No Entry, portrays Wali Mohammed in the series.

Wali Mohammed, caught in a tumultuous battle between love and duty, tries to balance his own desires with his royal obligations. Alongside Khan’s character poster, Netflix India said on its social media accounts, “Fareen Khan makes his spectacular return to the screen as Wali Mohammed.”

The show, which is billed as an epic narrative of love, power, retribution, and independence, follows the lives of courtesans and their clients as they explore the cultural realities of “Heeramandi,” a glittering area, against the turbulent background of the 1940s Indian freedom fight.

“Heeramandi” has Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Sanjeeda Shaikh in the key roles and is scheduled for distribution on the streamer’s platform on May 1.

Suman is playing Zulfikar. Suman has acted in films like “Utsav” and “Sansar” as well as the beloved comedy series “Dekh Bhai Dekh.”

Netflix shared the character poster for Zulfikar with the caption, “Laying his allegiance at Mallikajaan’s (Koirala) feet, only one thing stands between Zulfikar and his shimmering ambition- Heeramandi.”

Adhyayan, his actor-son, portrays Zoravar. The actor starred in films such as “Jashn,” “Raaz – The Mystery Continues,” and, most recently, “Chup: Revenge of the Artist.”

“Zoravar’s love for Lajjo (Chadha) is a fiery embrace filled with intense passion, but will he be able to respond when love calls?” In the character description, the streamer said.

Shah, who gained popularity as the lead in the films “Luv Ka The End” and “Baar Baar Dekho,” is portraying Tajdar in “Heeramandi.”

Netflix described Tajdar as “a nawab’s son torn between tradition and love, seeking purpose through liberation.”

The idea for “Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar” was conceived by Moin Beg. Bhansali is the creator and director of the series. In addition, he produces the program.
