How the 1976 movie Dus Numbri starring Manoj Kumar and Hema Malini Affected Their Careers

Two icons of Indian film are Manoj Kumar and Hema Malini. Their blockbuster movies have made a significant contribution to the constantly changing film industry. The two of them shared the screen for six films, all of which were huge hits with the public. Among these movies are Dus Numbri (1976), Santosh (1989), and Sanyasi (1975). Dus Numbri was Hema Malini’s fourth consecutive successful film in 1976. It was also her and Manoj Kumar’s second straight hit movie together, after Sanyasi. After Dus Numbri, Manoj Kumar reportedly ceased appearing in movies that were funded by other production companies, according to the IMDB report.

There is no publicly available explanation for his choice. In Madan Mohla’s film Dus Numbri, Premnath Malhotra, Pran Sikand, Bindu Desai, and other actors performed. Madan Mohla’s name was featured as the director on the movie’s credit roll. However, the IMDB entry states that Manoj Kumar, not Madan Mohla, was in charge of the film’s directing.

In an interview, Manoj discussed Hema Malini with the Filmfare website. “She is closest to my family,” he said. She would send us dosas and idlis. We would dispatch Kali Dal. Together, we performed Kranti, Dus Numbri, and Sanyasi. I once informed her that I intended to take her picture at 5.10 a.m. on the helipad during Kranti. I wanted to catch her in the early morning light, which signified her character transition. She glanced at the sun as I filmed it in a zoomed-in manner. She sent over some idlis and expressed her happiness with the picture.

Since the April 14, 1995 release of his previous movie, Maidan-E-Jung, Manoj Kumar has not been in any significant motion pictures. Hema Malini has also been out of the spotlight for a considerable amount of time. The seasoned actress said in an exclusive interview with Zoom that she hopes to return to the movies. That being said, she said that the part would need to fit her age. The film Shimla Mirchi (2020), directed by Ramesh Sippy, is her most recent release.
