‘If Someone Is Shooting You…’ is Rohit Shetty’s response to criticism directed by Cop Universe and the celebration of police brutality

In India, Rohit Shetty is credited with founding the police genre. The filmmaker, who has produced hits like Singham, Sooryavanshi, and Simmba, is presently shooting the follow-up starring Kareena Kapoor and Ajay Devgn. In the midst of all of this, Shetty is launching his first series, Indian Police Force, on Netflix. Although he has a devoted following, others have criticized him for glorifying police violence. That was specifically covered by Rohit Shetty in a recent interview.

In an interview with Film Companion, Rohit Shetty clarified his position, stating, “I know exactly what I’m saying. Even though we are all well-educated here, that life is quite different from ours. Imagine encountering a drug dealer, a rapist, or someone who has hacked off the skull of an innocent person on your way to work. Dealing with such kind of individuals puts you in a whole different mental state.

“Obviously, I’m against them taking the law into their own hands and killing innocent people,” he said. However, you wouldn’t welcome someone with wide arms if they were firing at you, would you? It is imperative that society be instilled with terror. I stand by this, and I don’t mind if I get trolling for it. I am aware of one instance in which they went to make an arrest and were shot at the moment they opened the door. They had to use chairs as protection since they didn’t even have bulletproof jackets. How ought they to proceed? They’ll exact revenge.

On January 5, however, the much-awaited Indian Police Force video debuted. With a focus on action, mystery, thrills, and drama, the forthcoming season promises to be an entertainment spectacular that transports viewers around to the next chapter of Rohit Shetty’s renowned Cop Universe. In addition to being written and directed by him, Rohit Shetty makes his digital directing debut with this police action drama, which stars Sidharth Malhotra and Shilpa Shetty. In important parts are Vivek Oberoi, Shweta Tiwari, Nikitin Dheer, Rituraj Singh, Mukesh Rishi, and Lalit Parimoo, in addition to Malhotra.

It honors the selfless dedication, steadfast devotion, and intense patriotism of Indian police personnel who risk everything to fulfill their responsibility of keeping the country secure. In India, the seven-episode series will debut exclusively on Prime Video on January 19, 2024.

The teaser leads viewers on a suspenseful journey across a variety of cityscapes, with each frame building tension with a ticking bomb clock that finally erupts in explosive bursts. The police drama takes place in the face of this impending peril, including an exciting pursuit headed by our brave heroes, Sidharth Malhotra, Vivek Oberoi, and Shilpa Shetty Kundra. They take on the masterminds of the bomb explosions together, displaying a deep sense of patriotism as they valiantly navigate the pandemonium to protect the city from impending dangers.
