In Madhya Pradesh, the Yami Gautam film Article 370 was deemed tax-free for revealing the “bitter reality” of J&K’s unique status

On Thursday, the Madhya Pradesh government proclaimed the newly released movie Article 370 to be tax-free.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav sent a message in Hindi on the social media site X, previously known as Twitter, saying, “We have decided to make the film Article 370 tax free in Madhya Pradesh so citizens of the state can know the bitter reality of Article 370.”

Yadav said that by eliminating the stigma associated with Article 370, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has created a wealth of development opportunities in Jammu and Kashmir.

The MP CM went on, “This film offers an opportunity to closely understand the past and present circumstances of Jammu and Kashmir.” The film Article 370, starring Yami Gautam, centers on the escalation of terrorism in Kashmir and the efforts of the government to combat it.

On February 23, the movie was released nationally. On August 5, 2019, the administration of Narendra Modi annulled Article 370, eliminating the special status granted to J&K, and divided it into Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, two Union territories.

With Priyamani in the lead role and directed by Aditya Suhas Jambhale, Article 370 has garnered favorable reviews and has performed well at the box office, slowly approaching the Rs 100-crore milestone.
