Koffee With Karan 8: Zeenat Aman’s Rupa 2.0, Neetu Kapoor’s Stylist: The Deepika Padukone Factor

New Delhi: The glam queens of the groovy ’70s were the focus of the most recent edition of Karan Johar’s discussion show, Koffee With Karan. Famous actresses Neetu Kapoor and Zeenat Aman attended the event and shared some old tea from the heyday.

The celebs were being authentic to the fullest, sharing hilarious tales and expert anecdotes. Of course, the most exciting part of the event was the rapid-fire round, when diva Deepika Padukone turned into an unexpected star. When asked who her favorite current-generation fashion stylist was, Neetu Kapoor said without hesitation, “Deepika.” The response attracted notice on the Internet as well. You may question, why? Just so you know, Ranbir Kapoor, the son of Neetu Kapoor, dated Deepika Padukone when they were just starting out in the acting world. It’s interesting to note that Deepika and Ranbir debuted in movies on November 9, 2007. While Ranbir featured in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya, Deepika costarred with Shah Rukh Khan in Om Shanti Om. Deepika and Ranbir continued to work together after their split, appearing in many hit films including as Tamasha and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.
Deepika Padukone was also on Zeenat Aman’s list of favorites. “If you had to cast Rupa from Satyam Shivam Sundaram 2, from which generation do you think would do justice to your part?” KJo questioned the Bollywood actress during her turn. Zeenat shot back, calm as ever, “I think Deepika.” For background, one of Zeenat Aman’s most recognizable parts is that of Rupa from Satyam Shivam Sundaram. The 1978 movie went on to become a smash, but it was surrounded by controversy, with some people accusing it of being pornographic. But the movie, as well as Zeenat Aman’s appearance and performance in it, have grown to become cult favorites over time.

Zeenat Aman also said that, throughout her whole career, she had only ever shared a screen with Neetu Kapoor’s late husband, Rishi Kapoor. Zeenat laughed as she recalled the difficulties they encountered in a qawwali sequence from their 1977 movie Hum Kisise Kum Naheen.

Zeenat reminisced on the humorous episode and said, “That qawwali. We had this scenario on a sofa, which is why it was so adorable. This scenario was there. I have a tall torso, so he was at least six inches shorter than me in the romance moment that comes before the qawwali. They then supported him with a few pillows, and I don’t believe he was at all content with that.”

Regarding her career, Zeenat Aman will next be seen with Abhay Deol and Shabana Azmi in Bun Tikki. Neetu Kapoor, meanwhile, was last saw in Jugjugg Jeeyo.
