Meet the filmmaker who turned multiple performers into movie stars with 13 of his 16 blockbusters, yet

In 1954, Subhash Ghai was born in Nagpur. In Delhi, his father practiced dentistry. Subhash Ghai attended the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune to complete his diploma in cinema after receiving his degree in business from Rohtak. His first film as director was the action movie “Kalicharan” (1976), which he got thanks to Shatrughan Sinha’s suggestion. With the movie’s popularity, Subhash Ghai was able to change his direction. Subhash Ghai and Rishi Kapoor co-wrote the 1980 blockbuster “Karz,” which did very well at the box office. This movie’s plot and soundtrack were very popular. One after another, he directed blockbuster movies that caused a stir in Bollywood. His outstanding performances in films such as “Hero,” “Jung,” “Karma,” “Ram Lakhan,” “Saudagar,” “Pardes,” “Khalnayak,” and “Taal” demonstrated his ability to be a man of many talents.
