Meet the woman who dated Feroz Khan, worked with Rajesh Khanna on eight blockbuster movies before quitting acting

Today, we’ll tell you about one of the most well-known actresses in Hindi cinema history, who began her career in Bollywood. She acted for the first time at the age of eleven in the 1958 film “Sone Ki Chidiya,” and she later had supporting parts in movies like “Stree” (1961) and “Sehra” (1963). In the 1960s and 1970s, there was a lot of buzz about this actress. She collaborated with numerous well-known actors throughout the course of her lengthy career, including Dev Anand and Sanjeev Kumar. Surprisingly, nevertheless, this actress once instructed Bollywood actor Rajesh Khanna in dancing.

Despite starring with Rajesh Khanna in several successful movies, this mega star actress had previously declined to portray the part of Dev Anand’s sister and referred to Rajesh Khanna as her “guru.”

The actress in question is none other than Mumtaz, who was born in Mashhad, Iran, to dried fruit trader Abdul Salim Askari and Iranian-born Shadi Habib Agha.

Mumtaz had her acting debut at the age of eleven, and in OP Ralhan’s “Gehra Daag,” an A-grade film, she landed her first part as an adult. Following a string of supporting parts, Mumtaz starred as the primary female character in 16 action movies, starring with freestyle wrestler Dara Singh in the films Faulad, Veer Bhimsen, Tarzan Comes to Delhi, Sikandar-E-Azam, Rustom-E-Hind, Raaka, and Daku Mangal Singh. She was referred to be a stunt-film heroine by these action movies.

Mumtaz received a salary of Rs. 250,000 every film, while Dara Singh received Rs. 450,000 for each film they co-starred in.

Mumtaz’s breakthrough role came in Raj Khosla’s popular family drama “Do Raaste” (1969), starring Rajesh Khanna. With ten films together, Mumtaz’s relationship with Rajesh Khanna was the most fruitful of all the actors she collaborated with.

Mumtaz collaborated on many successful films and appeared with Feroz Khan often. The actor was one of the most attractive guys she had ever seen, so she once admitted to having a crush on him. She performed with Dharmendra in movies like Jheel Ke Us Paar (1973) and Loafer (1973).

After the play ‘Aaina’ (1977), Mumtaz gave from acting to focus on her family. She returned 13 years later with the box office failure “Aandhiyan” (1990), but she eventually retired.

In 1974, Mumtaz wed Mayur Madhvani, a businessman. Their two girls are there. Since 2006, their daughter Natasha has been wed to Fardeen Khan, the son of Feroz Khan.

A lot of people don’t know that Shammi Kapoor was in love with Mumtaz and even considered marrying her, but she wasn’t ready to give up her acting career since her family didn’t want any of their daughters to be in the entertainment business.

As one of the best performers in Indian film, Mumtaz is highly respected. Mumtaz has made London her permanent residence together with her spouse Mayur Madhvani, having retired from performing.
