Pooja Bhatt discusses what it’s like to return to the profession after 21 years away

After a 21-year break, Pooja Bhatt returned to the profession with “Bombay Begums.” The actress said, “Rise and slay,” as she announced her return on Instagram in 2021. Nothing is more resilient than a lady who has rebuilt her life. Okay, I guess I’m back. For her, it took almost twenty years to be in front of the camera.

Pooja said in an interview with Instant Bollywood that she produced and directed films but was unable to look in front of the camera for 21 years. However, she once again began to take pleasure in being in front of the camera. She was particularly appreciative of the intriguing characters that are being created in the modern day, when anybody may play any age.

“I’m on my honeymoon right now. I directed and produced films after giving up performing for twenty-one years. I am enjoying this time of being back in front of the camera, however. I’m appreciative that in this day and age, compelling parts are being created where you may portray your age,” she said.

Pooja Bhatt also discussed how OTT platforms are giving actresses more alternatives and that her appearance in the OTT series “Big Girls Don’t Cry” was a major factor in her return. In a recent interview, she said that since OTT is experimenting with everything, there are more opportunities for performers of all ages, shapes, and origins. In movies of the time, a hero, heroine, villain, and hero’s buddy might all fit into one. These days, the lines are hazy.

She described how her character Rani in “Bombay Begums,” who is around her age, gets stroked with various hues throughout the play while expressing her happiness to be a part of this shift. She blames the over-the-top media. She thinks that roles picked her and is content at this stage of her life.”
