Resurrection of Scooby-Doo: Live Action Series In Development

Where are you, Scooby Dooby Doo? Fans of Scooby-Doo have been thinking about this song ever since they found out about the possible live-action adaptation of the beloved Warner Bros. property. Variety reports that Scooby-Doo is expected to be developed by streaming through Netflix! The Live-Action Series, written by Scott Rosenberg and Josh Appelbaum. There are rumors that the one-hour drama project is getting close to a script-to-series commitment at the streamer. Apart from the fact that it would be based on the Hanna-Barbera animation, not much is known about the narrative. Warner Bros. Television, which just released the Dead Boys Detectives series on Netflix, will produce.

Under their Midnight Radio moniker, Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg will executive produce in addition to serving as writers. Andre Nemec and Jeff Pinkner will also be involved. Executive producers via Berlanti Productions will include Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Leigh London Redman (the firm is presently under an overall agreement at WBTV). Adrienne Erickson and Jonathan Gabay of Berlanti Productions will co-executive produce.

The first Scooby-Doo animated series, Where Are You!, for Hanna-Barbera in 1969 marked the beginning of the Scooby-Doo! franchise, which was eventually acquired by Warner Bros. Animation. The show was created by Joe Ruby and Ken Spears.

The live-action Scooby-Doo project on Netflix wouldn’t be the first to reach the big screen. Most notably, Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Matthew Lillard, and Linda appeared in the 2002 film Scooby-Doo.

Scooby-Doo: Monsters Unleashed, a 2004 sequel starring the same cast, made over USD 180 million at the box office. Additionally, there were the 2009 and 2010 releases of the live-action TV movie Scooby-Doo!: The Mystery Begins and its follow-up.

In addition, a variety of Scooby-Doo animated shows have been produced throughout the years, starting with the first one in the late 1960s. Over the years, there have been many iterations that include animated television shows and motion pictures.
