Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the director of Animal, speaks out against unfavorable reviews and labels them as “illiterate”: “They don’t have

The director of the current big-budget film, Animal, Sandeep Reddy Vanga, has spoken out about the negative feedback he got. The reviewers who have attacked Sandeep include Anupama Chopra, Sucharita Tyagi, and Rajeev Masand, who he claims are ‘illiterates having zero understanding’ of cinema reviews. Sandeep has been subjected to selective criticism over his film

The Ranbir Kapoor film drew criticism for its misogynistic character representations shortly after it was released. Critics even attacked some scenes, such as Ranbir’s “Lick my shoe.” Sandeep said in an interview with Connect FM Cannada that those who criticize his movie are profiting from it. If he were to say, ‘Animal mat dekhna, pagal film hai,’ from a balcony fifty logons ago, I would be grateful to him since he isn’t being paid for it. However, they aren’t the only videos on YouTube. Uss mein se logo ko paisa bhi aata hai. If criticizing my film brings you fame, fortune, and other benefits, then, by all means, do it. That’s what happened with the majority of Kabir Singh’s detractors. Their criticism of Kabir Singh gave them instant notoriety.

Sandeep went on to say that he feels singled out by reviewers and that there is a group of critics who only like the works of certain directors and who have a particular taste in movies. “What I see is that there is a clear hatred towards a filmmaker than a film,” Sandeep said that criticism of Kabir Singh has increased with the release of Animal and would continue to do so when his Prabhas-starring film Spirit opens, but the filmmaker is undeterred by the criticism. “Fark nahi padta, kyuki lakhon logo ko pasand aa rahi hai.”

In response to the criticism directed at the “Lick my shoe” segment, Sandeep said, “Woh toh hua hi nahi hai.” Ho kyu bata rahe ho, Jo hua nahi woh.” Sandeep went on to say that his movie is receiving biased criticism from critics. “I’ve read other evaluations as well, so it’s beyond their capabilities. They ought to go teach English in China based on the way they speak. because each time they study a film, they invent new terms in the English language. You won’t discover anything else but that. Even in Kabir Singh, the criticism was circumspect, focusing only on the fact that Kabir (Shahid Kapoor) slapped Preeti (Kiara Advani) first.”

Sandeep blasted the critics, saying, “What a shameful thing to say that ‘it’s torture for 3.5 hours’.” The severe criticism, the director said, hasn’t had much of an effect on the collections. Sandeep continued by labeling a few movie critics, including Rajeev, Sucharita, and Anupama, as “illiterate,” saying that none of them discussed the film industry’s craft, editing, or sound design since they were essentially ignorant and illiterate. They have no idea how to evaluate or critique a movie.” Animal, Sandeep’s most recent movie, has brought in over 800 crores globally. His next projects as a filmmaker include Spirit, starring Prabhas, and an unnamed movie with Allu Arjun.
