Selena Gomez talks candidly about finding contentment while abstaining from social media

Selena Gomez, who is well-known for her acting and musical abilities, recently spoke about why she decided to stop using social media and how it made her happier overall. The multi-talented celebrity, who has a large fan base on Instagram, feels that removing oneself from the network was a crucial step in her quest for personal happiness.

Speaking on her leave of absence at the 2024 TIME 100 Summit, Selena Gomez stressed the need to unplug from Instagram, where she is the most followed female user. She said that, despite her fame, she felt overtaken by the millions of followers’ incessant barrage of comments and criticism.

Gomez gave her team control over her Instagram activity for four years after realizing she needed a break. She saw this time as very fulfilling. “I felt like it was the most rewarding gift I gave myself,” she said. “I was more attentive. I felt more content.” Her time off gave her a chance to reaffirm her humanity and experience the present moment, providing a welcome diversion from the demands of social media.

Selena Gomez continued to pursue her career as usual even throughout her digital detox. While she is in New York City shooting the fourth season of the critically acclaimed television series “Only Murders in the Building” with Steve Martin and Martin Short, she is also looking forward to the premiere of her forthcoming feature, “Emilia Perez,” which is scheduled for May.

In addition, she is leading the revival of the acclaimed television program “Wizards of Waverly Place,” which has been given the go-ahead for a new season. Selena prioritizes her personal life above her career, even with her hectic schedule. She manages a distance relationship with musician Benny Blanco.
