In honor of his late father, Meer Taj Mohammed Khan, Shah Rukh Khan established the Meer Foundation in 2003. Since then, the foundation has engaged in a number of charitable endeavors. Additional victims of acid attacks have benefited from it. Additionally, the charity stepped forward to assist individuals during the Covid-19 epidemic.

The foundation seeks to create a world where women are empowered and tries to bring about change at the grassroots level. Various projects that aid underprivileged women and children have received assistance from the Meer foundation in the past.
