South African actor Appukutty makes a comeback to the big screen in the film Happy Birthday!

Appukutty, popularly known as Sivabalan, began his acting career in 1998 with a few small parts in the movie Maru Malarchi. But he didn’t become successful until almost 11 years later with the Suseenthiran-directed comedy Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu, which made him a star. Later, Suseenthiran directed Azhagarsamiyin Kuthirai, a film that adapted a short tale by Bhaskar Shakti and starred Appukutty as the lead. In the Raju Chandra-written and -directed film Happy Birthday, Appukutty reprises his leading role after a long hiatus.

Roji Mathew and Raju Chandra are the film’s producers, working with Plan Three Studios Private Limited and Mathans Group. on this movie, Aishwarya Anil, a Malayalam actress, plays the main role on her Tamil debut. Roji Mathew and Sreeja Ravi are other important players. With this movie, Raju Chandra, who has directed highly acclaimed Malayalam films such as Jimmy Ee Veedinte Aiswaryam (2019) and Shikkari Shambhu (2018), makes his third filmography debut in Tamil cinema.

Raju Chandra used aspects of humor, romance, and country life to create a tale that works for the audience. Appakutty is originally from the Tamil Nadu hamlet of Nathan Kinaru in the Thoothukudi district. He moved to Chennai in 1994 just to look for work so he could support himself. After working as a hotel cleaner for a while, Appakutty attracted the attention of people in the film business who gave him acting roles. He then started doing modest character parts and said in an interview from 2011 that he had always wanted to be a comic. He has worked in the sector for almost 17 years in a variety of small jobs, gaining expertise.
