Speaking on a “tough time” in his family, Abhishek Bachchan remarks, “I didn’t have clothes” for an award show

In the year 2000, Abhishek Bachchan made his screen debut in the film Refugee. But Amitabh Bachchan’s son found it difficult to break into the entertainment industry prior to landing director JP Dutta’s film. Abhishek remembered this in a recent interview, adding that no one wanted to be in charge of Amitabh Bachchan’s son’s debut. Not only that, but the Ghoomer actor said that, before to making his acting debut, the Bachchan family was going through a difficult period. As a result, he went to India from college in the US to be with his father.

“Filmfare, you used to arrange your outfit months in advance 20 years ago. You had to purchase your own clothing back then since no one was giving them out for free. The whole industry would be there, even if they weren’t nominated, so you would make sure you weren’t filming that night. It was a special event. But then I thought, “What should I wear?” Although it may seem strange to admit today, I didn’t have a lot of clothing since we couldn’t afford to buy them. Abhishek told Galatta Plus, “We were trying to be as thrifty as we could be since we were going through a difficult period.

“I didn’t believe it would be appropriate to show there in jeans and a T-shirt, and I didn’t have anything formal to wear. I went and donned the sherwani that was fashioned for my sister’s wedding a few years ago, the actor said.

Abhishek said that JP Dutta’s win for Best Director for Border occurred at the same awards ceremony. As the director made his way down the stage, he caught sight of Abhishek. Later, after offering Abhishek refugee status, the director requested him to meet.

Regarding his career, Abhishek was most recently seen in R Balki’s Ghoomer. All of the reviews for the movie, which was released earlier this year, were mediocre.
