The “Father of Indian Cinema” biography will be directed by SS Rajamouli

Dadasaheb Phalke, known as the “Father of Indian Cinema,” will be the subject of the forthcoming biopic Made In India, which director SS Rajamouli revealed on Tuesday.

The RRR director said that after hearing the narrative, the screenplay affected him deeply.

“The narrative affected me emotionally more than anything else when I first heard it. Making a biography is difficult in and of itself, but coming up with one that centers on the FATHER OF INDIAN CINEMA is much more difficult. Our lads are prepared and enthusiastic. Presenting ‘MADE IN INDIA’ with great joy,” Rajamouli posted on X, previously known as Twitter.

He also distributed the announcement teaser, which referred to the impending film as the “biopic of Indian cinema”.

Nitin Kakkar, who has helmed movies like Jawaani Jaaneman, Mitron, and Filmistaan, will helm Made In India. The project also serves as SS Karthikeya, the son of Rajamouli,’s directorial debut. He received credit for line producing “RRR”.

“I’ve wanted to realize my ambition of being a producer for a long time. The time has here. “MADE IN INDIA”… Taking up this assignment with the greatest responsibility,” Karthikeya posted on X.

Also involved as a producer is Varun Gupta.

Raja Harishchandra, the first ever Indian feature film of this length, was created by Dadasaheb Phalke, known as the “Father of Indian Cinema,” in 1913. Dhundiraj Govind Phalke, the director’s true name, was born in Trimbak, then part of Maharashtra.

In 1913, Raja Harishchandra, the first full-length feature from India, marked his directorial debut. He had traveled to London to study filmmaking under Cecil Hepworth. He created 95 feature films and 27 short films throughout the course of his almost 20-year career.

The Dadasaheb Phalke Award, which honors lifelong accomplishments to Indian cinema, was created in 1969 by the federal government as a tribute to the visionary director.

After the worldwide success of his Telugu historical action thriller RRR, which won the best original song Oscar for “Naatu Naatu” at the Academy Awards earlier this year, Rajamouli’s first assignment as a presenter is Made In India.

The cast and other information about the movie have not yet been released by the producers.
