This is the reason why Randeep Hooda and Sarabjit Singh’s family became closer than those of Aishwarya Rai, his co-star

In preparation for the release of Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, actor-turned-director Randeep Hooda “recalls” working with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan on “Sarbjit,” saying that he related more emotionally with Sarabjit Singh’s family.

Randeep said in an interview with Humans of Bombay that he developed a strong relationship with Sarabjit’s sister, who was portrayed by Aishwarya Rai in the movie. The actor continued by saying that no matter how hard anybody tried, they weren’t quite able to make Aishwarya seem less attractive than she really is.
Randeep said she had been excellent, extremely polite, and had done a terrific job in her duty. He observed that she was completely committed to her profession and genuine about it. Since most of his sequences were different from hers, they didn’t contact much on set, but when they did, she lived up to her reputation.
Regarding his relationship with Sarabjit’s family, Randeep said that he became closer to Sarabjit’s sister than he did to Aishwarya when the film was being made. He said he was sorry to hear of her death and remembered granting her demand to have her funeral pyre lit. He said he wished he had spent more time with her, describing her as an amazing lady who raised Sarabjit’s now-adopted children with great care. He said that the film had a significant influence on actual events.
Sarbjit is a 2016 biopic of Sarabjit Singh, who was found guilty of terrorism and espionage in Pakistan, for the Unverse, directed by Omung Kumar. In the movie, Randeep portrayed Sarabjit Singh, the brother of Dalbir Kaur, who entered Pakistan while intoxicated in 1990 and spent 23 years in prison after facing several criminal charges.
