When Aishwarya Rai Declared That She Did Not Leave Bajirao Mastani

Bajirao Mastani, a 2015 movie directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and starring Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, caused quite a stir when it originally came out. According to certain rumors, Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan were first promised the movie. On Reddit, an old video from Aishwarya has just surfaced in which she discusses why she declined to sign the movie.

He (Sanjay) did imagine us collaborating as the cast that he saw was great for the film, Aishwarya stated in an interview with Karan Johar on his talk show Koffee With Karan. However, given the circumstances, I was unable to collaborate with the team he was seeking.

I was willing to play Mastani, but not in the Bajirao role that he had in mind. This was hence likely widespread. According to what the media said, Aishwarya left Bajirao Mastani. I was in the hospital with my leg immobilized, so we hadn’t spoken back then, she continued.

Later, Sanjay collaborated on the movie alongside Deepika and Ranveer. One of the greatest successes in the careers of Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Ranveer Singh is Bajirao Mastani. With more than Rs. 300 crore made at international box offices, it eventually rose to become the 11th-highest grossing Bollywood film of all time.

In the historical love story, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh portrayed a warrior prince called Mastani and Peshwa Bajirao, respectively. The two first come into contact while participating in a combat together, and thus starts their unbreakable love tale.

Ranveer Singh most recently appeared with Alia Bhatt in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. The over-the-top characters, upbeat music, and extravagant settings of the movie—all hallmarks of a Karan Johar family comedy—were enthusiastically appreciated by the crowd.

Meanwhile, Deepika recently had a lengthy appearance in Shah Rukh Khan’s much anticipated movie Jawan. The Thursday theatrical debut of the Atlee-directed film saw it surpass the $100 million worldwide box office milestone on its first day.
