When Jaya Prada “absconds” in two instances involving code of conduct violations, the court orders police to take her into custody

Jaya Prada, the actress and former member of the Bharatiya Janata Party, has been implicated in two counts of ‘absconding’ over code of conduct violations. The ruling was made as a result of Jaya’s repeated notifications and non-bailable warrants against her failing to show up for a court appearance.

The Rampur MP/MLA court issued CrPC order 82 for her non-appearance on Tuesday, despite many NBWs (not-bailable warrants) being issued. In relation to this, Senior Prosecution Officer Amarnath Tiwari said that the Special MP/MLA Court, Rampur, along with the Kemri and Swar police stations, is where the 2019 election code of conduct complaint against Jaya was filed.

Jaya was granted NBW by MP/MLA Magistrate Court Judge Shobhit Bansal as a result of her prior court appearances being missed. Inspector Ranji Trivedi’s report said that the accused was defending herself and had turned off her phone.

After then, a request was filed in court to prosecute Jaya, the accused, under Section 82 CrPC. The order has been placed, and March 6 has been set as the next date.

The Superintendent of Police has been directed by the court to assemble a special squad whose mission is to find the former MP and make sure she shows up for the next hearing on March 6th.
