Zoya Akhtar Second-guessed her decision to cast Khushi, Agastya, and Suhana in The Archies

Zoya Akhtar is now preparing for the premiere of The Archies, her next film. Agastya Nanda, the grandson of Amitabh Bachchan, Khushi Kapoor, the late actress Sridevi’s daughter, producer Boney Kapoor, and Suhana Khan, the daughter of Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan, all make their acting debuts in this movie. Zoya recently acknowledged in an interview that she had second thoughts about choosing these starkids for her film. She clarified, however, that it would have been wrong to exclude someone from consideration only because their parents are well-known.

Thoughts like those did cross my mind, but I quickly realized that I shouldn’t act on them since they are the best for the job, and if someone had to do anything, they will. People will like their work if they like it. However, they seemed promise for the three parts when I saw them at the tryouts, the actress said.

If I didn’t cast them, it would be very strange. It is strange to reject a candidate because of their lack of fame, but it is also strange to reject a candidate because of their parents’ notoriety. You really simply have to consider merit. Naturally, I gave it some thinking, but there’s no denying that they’re the most suitable for the jobs. At the end of the day, I care about my film,” Zoya said.

Agastya Nanda, Suhana Khan, and Kushi Kapoor make their Bollywood debuts in The Archies. Dot will play Ethel Muggs in the much-loved comic book adaptation, Agastya as the endearing and gifted Archie Andrews, Khushi as Betty Cooper, Mihir Ahuja as the perpetually ravenous Jughead Jones, Suhana Khan as Veronica Lodge, Vedang Raina as the gorgeous Reggie Mantle, and Yuvraj Menda as Dilton Doiley.

Netflix will debut The Archies on December 7.
