Actor From “Black Panther” Seriously Hurt In New York Hit-And-Run

According to a People Magazine article, actress and stunt woman from “Black Panther” and “The Colour Purple” was engaged in a hit-and-run in New York on January 1, 2024. At about 1:30 a.m. on Monday, Carrie Bernans, 29, suffered serious injuries when a vehicle hit an outdoor dining area at the Chirp restaurant in Manhattan.

Her attorney claims that Ms. Bernans, a recent mother, was not there with her child at the time of the occurrence. She did, however, suffer from several fractures, shattered bones, and chipped teeth. At the hospital, her health is stable.

Following complaints of a physical attack between a 44-year-old male driver of a black Mercedes and a 34-year-old female passenger near 33rd Street and 6th Avenue, the police said that the incident featured a foot pursuit.

“In an effort to defuse the tension, foot patrol officers told the male driver to shift the car into park. The individual ran westward on 33rd Street after disobeying the officers’ directions, turning right onto 7th Avenue to counter flow of traffic, according to the police statement.

“The Mercedes then made a turn onto West 34th Street heading west, where he mounted the sidewalk and started driving west,” the statement said. After that, the guy attacked a food cart as well as two female pedestrians, ages 39 and 29, as well as a female pedestrian aged 31.” In addition, two police officers were hurt in the collision “along with the Mercedes’s passenger after the driver mounted the curb onto the sidewalk again” and hit “two unoccupied parked vehicles and a 2022 Toyota Camry in the roadway.”

According to the police, “Officers were then able to remove the operator and place him into custody.”

The mother of Ms. Bernans, Patricia Lee, posted a number of pictures on Instagram detailing her daughter’s wounds. Her teeth were chipped and leaking, and her face looked bloated. In the second image, Ms. Bernans was shown with bruises all over her hands as she lay on a hospital bed.

“She’s still in so much pain and can’t answer calls at this time, but appreciate the messages,” she added, sharing the same. It was a horrific experience. Kindly remember Carrie in your prayers and thoughts. Despite her intense suffering, she is recovering. A guy in his early 40s was attempting to flee a hit-and-run when he crashed into many automobiles and then struck a food stall that she and her buddy were strolling close to in a terrifying occurrence that happened to her in New York City. She was ultimately rendered unconscious and suspended under the stand by it. She didn’t know what was going on since she was beneath it.

“Despite having chipped teeth, fractures, and a few shattered bones, she is grateful to be alive. In his effort to flee the hit-and-run, nine persons were hurt, three of them were police officers. Soon after, he was apprehended by police and taken into custody. She is clinging to a deep feeling of thankfulness for life itself despite the turmoil of the New Year’s tragedy, Ms. Lee said.
