After losing a tire in midair following departure from San Francisco, a United Airlines aircraft makes an emergency landing

United Airlines stated in a statement that a flight headed for Japan had to make an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport on Thursday, March 7, due to a tire blowout that occurred mid-air after the aircraft took off from San Francisco.
United said that it was making plans to replace the Boeing B777-200 aircraft that carried 249 people on its journey.

As the aircraft lifted off, one of the six tires collapsed into the main landing gear assembly on the left side.

Soon after the event, the same footage surfaced on social media.

The event did not result in any injuries, according to the authorities.

The airline claimed in a statement that the aircraft was built to land safely even with damaged or missing tires.
