Before the 2024 election, Biden behind Trump in many states: poll

According to a new survey released on Sunday, incumbent Joe Biden is already far behind potential rival Donald Trump in a number of crucial states, exactly one year before the US presidential election.

The New York Times and Sienna College poll shows that the president is down by as much as 10 percentage points in five states that were critical in helping Biden beat Trump in the 2020 election.

Only 19% of respondents to the survey, conducted between October 22 and November 3, said that 77-year-old Trump was too old to be president, while more than 70% of respondents claimed that 80-year-old Biden was too elderly.

Regarding the Israel-Hamas conflict, immigration, and the economy, respondents likewise said that they supported Trump.

Wisconsin voters supported Biden by two points, whereas those in Nevada, Georgia, Arizona, Michigan, and Pennsylvania said they would vote for Trump over Biden in the next election by four to ten percentage points.

According to the research, people still see Biden as more trustworthy when it comes to abortion, and they favor the president over Trump when it comes to democracy. Trump is now facing four criminal trials, including one related to allegations that he attempted to rig the 2020 election.

The survey found that although most women supported Trump, Biden’s lead among voters under 30 has shrunk to only one percentage point despite their ardent support for the Democrat in 2020.

In a statement released on Sunday, the Biden team allayed worries about his chances of winning reelection by stating that “predictions more than a year out tend to look a little different a year later.”

“As we approach the choice between our winning, popular agenda and the unpopular extremism of MAGA Republicans, President Biden’s campaign is hard at work reaching and mobilizing our diverse, winning coalition of voters,” campaign spokesman Kevin Munoz said.
