Erdogan and Putin spoke about the persistent Israeli-Palestinian tensions

Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Turkish president, and Vladimir Putin, the Russian president, spoke over the phone about the escalating tensions between Israel and Palestine.

Erdogan and Putin discussed ways to stop the tension from rising during their phone conversation on Tuesday, according to a statement released by Turkey’s Communications Directorate, according to Xinhua news agency.

Erdogan informed Putin over the phone that striking civilian communities is concerning and that Turkey does not support such actions, according to the report.

Erdogan promised to keep working hard to maintain peace in the area, it continued.

According to a statement from the Kremlin, Putin expressed worry about the “catastrophic increase” in civilian casualties in Israel and the Gaza Strip.

Additionally, the two leaders reaffirmed the need for “an immediate ceasefire” and “the resumption of the negotiation process,” it said.

On Saturday, Hamas unexpectedly attacked Israeli villages near the Gaza Strip, which prompted Israel to retaliate by attacking Gaza.

The Israel-Hamas confrontation has so far resulted in many deaths on both sides, with Gaza and Israel already accounting for 900 and 1,008 fatalities, respectively.
