India Is Showing Up As A Possible Answer To Close Israel’s Manpower Shortage In The Construction Sector

There is an urgent need for more construction workers in Israel, which has led companies to request immediate action from the government. The government plays a crucial role in determining where to get these much needed laborers, according to the Israeli Contractors Association.

Rumors suggest that India might be a major player in closing this labor gap, citing conversations with Israel’s Minister of Economy, Nir Barkat, who visited the country early this year. PTI said that the discussions revolved on the possibility of hiring around 160,000 people, indicating the magnitude of the need.

The construction industry in Israel now employs a considerable number of foreign laborers, the most of whom are from the Palestinian Authority, China, and Eastern Europe. The need to address the labor shortfall has become more pressing as a result of the prolonged confrontation with Hamas in Gaza.

It’s interesting to note that there are now 20,000 Indians employed in Israel, mostly in caregiving positions. Many Indian laborers made the decision to stay in Israel despite the difficulties brought on by the current war, citing a feeling of security and competitive pay as motivators.
