Pakistani polling organization releases the timetable for the 11 Balochistani Senate seats

ISLAMABAD: According to ARY News, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has released the schedule for the April 2 Senate elections for the 11 seats in Balochistan.
The Balochistan Assembly will have the power to choose eleven senators in this election process: two women, two technocrats, and seven general seats.

As stated in the schedule, candidates may submit their nomination documents to the Returning Officer (RO) on March 15 and 16. The RO’s review of nomination papers will begin on March 17 and end on March 19, after which the preliminary list of candidates will be made public, according to ARY News.
The deadline to file an appeal against the nomination papers’ approval or rejection is March 21. By March 25, 2024, the appellate panel is supposed to have decided these appeals.
After that, on March 26, the updated list of applicants will be released, and withdrawals will be accepted until March 27. The Balochistan Assembly’s grounds will host the polling on April 2 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
In earlier by-elections the same day, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) won four of the six Senate seats.
Voting was held in the National Assembly for one open Senate seat from Islamabad. With 204 votes, Yousaf Raza Gil of the PPP defeated Chaudhary Ilyas Mehrban of the Sunni Ittehad Council, who had 88 votes.
With 58 and 57 votes, respectively, PPP candidates Jam Saifullah Dharijo and Aslam Abro prevailed in the Sindh Assembly. The resignations of PPP members Nisar Ahmed Khuhro and Jam Mehtab Dahar have left these seats empty.
Mir Abdul Qudus Bizenjo of the Pakistan People’s Party won Balochistan with 23 votes. Furthermore, the province’s open Senate seats went to Abdul Shakoor of Jamiat Ulema-s-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and Mir Dostain Domki of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), according to ARY News. (ANI)
