US Police in Los Angeles are shown on camera shooting and killing a man who was holding a plastic fork

US officials in Los Angeles have released body-camera video showing a dramatic incident in which they shoot a guy who is holding a plastic fork. Investigators are already closely examining whether the use of lethal force in the dramatic episode that took place in a downtown warehouse on February 3 followed procedure.

The 36-year-old victim of the shooting has been named as Jason Lee Maccani. In the video, which was made public on Tuesday, a guy is challenged by six police officers in a building’s hallway. The guy seems to follow their instructions to approach them with his arms up at first. He doesn’t, however, stop moving and continues to walk while clutching what the cops claim to be a screwdriver in his fists.

Police stated in a statement that they attempted to subdue him but were unable. Shots can be heard in the footage as the suspect is seen approaching the cops. It said, “An Officer-Involved Shooting occurred as a result of the suspect grabbing one of the officers and the Beanbag Shotgun she was holding.”

Someone reported a “assault with a deadly weapon” in a warehouse by calling an emergency hotline, and police responded by going to the facility. The caller said that this individual was threatening employers with a stick while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Maccani passed away at a local hospital.
