Witnesses describe the terrifying account of a fatal gunfight involving the Kansas City Chiefs

Following a gunshot on Wednesday during Kansas City’s Super Bowl parade, 21 people—including eight children—were wounded, leaving one person dead. Witnesses recounted the pandemonium and terror that broke out among the Chiefs supporters when they heard gunfire.

“Do my friends still live?”
A security officer reportedly instructed student Gabe Wallace to “get over the damn fence right now, there’s a shooter.” While jumping over the wall, he cut his face and became concerned about his pals.

He stated, “I’m literally thinking that most of my friends are dead.”

The friends of the victim’s family recognized her as local DJ Lisa Lopez-Galvan. Videos posted on social media showed people escaping, police rushing through the area, and some individuals giving the injured CPR.

In a another video, two individuals were seen tackling and restrainting a suspect until the police could get there.

One of the tacklers, Paul Contreras, reported seeing a gun drop from the suspect’s grasp. He acknowledged the danger but maintained he wasn’t afraid.

He said, “This is the Super Bowl parade, by coincidence.”

Kansas City is still in disbelief.
Kansas resident Lisa Money expressed her outrage at the incident. When she heard “down, down, everybody down!” she assumed someone was kidding until she seen the Swat team.

“Who would do something like this in their right mind?” said she.

Hot dog seller Ian Johnson said that at first he thought the gunfire were fireworks. Some of the supporters huddled inside his tent, while others were fleeing.

When the gunfire started, Courtney Brown and her two boys were very close to the stage. They had to huddle together next to a barrier and link arms after almost being trampled twice, according to her.

Quinton Lucas, the mayor of the city, expressed his sorrow and commendation for the law enforcement.

“When individuals choose to carry firearms to gatherings, we all become members of a group that none of us wants to belong to—those who have experienced mass shootings,” he said.

Three persons were detained, according to Stacey Graves, the police chief. She said she had heard but was unable to verify that fans may have assisted in apprehending a suspect.
