A Salem kid attempts 49 backward skips in an attempt to set a record

A 28-year-old Chennai man who is originally from the Salem area set a new Guinness World Record by doing the most backward body skips in a minute.

On February 22, in Milan, Italy, B Sakthi, a registered valuer based in Chennai, broke his previous record of 48 backward skips in a minute, setting a new world record. Sakthi’s previous record was achieved in Rome in 2018. After completing 46 backward skips in Coimbatore, he became the first person to be recorded by Guinness in October 2015.TNIE has covered the story in their news report.

Sakthi, who grew up in an agrarian family in the Elampillai town panchayat, has always been confident in his ability to break records since his flexibility is maintained by regular running exercise. “At first, neither my mother Valarmathi nor my father Balasubramani understood what I was doing. However, they were overjoyed, grateful, and very proud of my accomplishments once I broke the world record, he stated.

“Thanks to my wife Malathi’s support, I continued to practice after getting married a few years ago. Sakthi said, “I am eager to mentor and support those like myself who want to break records and get in touch with the UK-based Guinness World Record team.

Some reports claim that a TV station that telecasted Sakthi’s accomplishment paid for his trip, lodging, and the approximately `4 lakh Guinness world record submission cost.

Sakthi said, “I would be pleased to receive a medal and financial assistance from Chief Minister MK Stalin.”
