Afghanistan is shaken by a magnitude 4.5 earthquake

Early on Sunday morning, an earthquake with a Richter Scale value of 4.5 occurred near Afghanistan’s Fayzabad, according to information released by the National Centre for Seismology.


At around 328 kilometers ENE of Fayzabad, and at a depth of 10 kilometers, the earthquake struck at 01:25:36 (IST).

“Earthquake of Magnitude:4.5, Occurred on 05-11-2023, 01:25:36 IST, Lat: 37.64 & Long: 74.21, Depth: 10 Km, Location: 328km ENE of Fayzabad,” NCS disclosed on X, the previous Twitter platform.

Afghanistan was rocked by yet another magnitude 4.7 earthquake last week.

It is crucial to emphasize that the poor country has recently been hit by many earthquakes.

According to Khaama Press, which cited the Taliban-led ministry, an earthquake in Afghanistan’s Herat region last month killed over 4,000 people and damaged thousands of residential buildings.

The strong aftershocks of the magnitude 6.3 earthquake shook Herat and the nearby areas.
