Students Claiming ‘Error’ in NTA’s Percentile Calculation in JEE Main 2024 Session 1 Results

The JEE Main 2024 session one results have been made public by the National Testing Agency and may be seen at jeemain.nta.ac.in, the official website. Some students, however, are asserting that there is a significant discrepancy in the calculation of their JEE Main marks and percentile after the results’ publication. Numerous JEE Main applicants are referring to it as a “error” by NTA.

On February 12, the JEE Main Session 1 final answer key was made public, and on February 13, the results were announced. Following the announcement of the results, aspirants inquired about the discrepancy between their test scores and JEE Main percentile. Speaking with users on the microblogging platform X (previously Twitter), some have suggested that NTA may have made a “error” in assigning some students to low percentiles even though they received decent results on the engineering entrance test, while others have called for “more transparency” from the organization.

Students need to do the following actions in order to determine their percentile:

Percentile score is calculated as follows: 100 x (total number of students who took the test in that session) / (number of students who received a score that was equal to or lower than the student)

JEE MAIN 2024: PROGRAMME FOR MARKING
In JEE Main, candidates get four points for each right answer, but one score is subtracted for each wrong response. A question is not highlighted if it is left unanswered or if it is marked for review. Each person who tried a question will get four points if it is removed from the final answer key.

This session, 23 students have achieved a 100 percentile score. Telangana has the most people who scored in the 100 percentile, followed by Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Andhra Pradesh. The second session will be led by NTA in April.
