The list of Central Universities Awarded Graded Autonomy is released by the University Grants Commission

New Delhi: In accordance with the University Grants Commission (Categorization of Institutions (only) for Grant of Graded Autonomy) Regulations, 2018, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has published the list of Central institutions that have been granted Graded Autonomy. By going to https://www.ugc.gov.in/, the Commission’s official website, one may see the list of central universities.

The Central University Category Name is included on the University Grants Commission’s list of Central Universities that have been granted graded autonomy.

In related events, the Commission authorized the procedures for reviewing state private university bids to establish an off-campus center or centers inside their respective states during its 577th Meeting, which took place on February 13, 2024. The institution will be permitted to open one or more off-campus locations as long as it stays within the state’s authority and becomes a state-private university.

The state-owned private university will open an off-campus location or center, given that

The relevant State University Act

(i) contains a provision for the opening of off-campus centers;

(ii) the state private university has completed at least five years since the beginning of its academic activities or programs at its main campus;

(iii) the state private university has received acceptance of its compliance with the UGC’s submission of criteria regarding program offerings, faculty, infrastructure, financial viability, etc.;

(iv) The state private university has

3. 1) To begin a particular program of interest at the off-campus center, if applicable, the state private university must get permission from the appropriate statutory or regulatory authority or issue a Letter of Intent.

ii) The planned off-campus center’s faculty, infrastructure, and other amenities must adhere to the rules and specifications established by the Commission and the applicable legislative or regulatory authority, as applicable.
