45-year-old guy in Odisha hacked to death in broad daylight

At Badaagula village on Thursday night, a 45-year-old man was fatally cut in full front of onlookers, causing shockwaves across Kabisuryanagar, Ganjam.

The dead was recognized by the police as Trilochan Pradhan from Badaagula. The accused, Kailash Swain, 43, who lives in the same hamlet, has been taken into custody.

Ganjam S.P. According to Jagmohan Meena, Trilochan and Kailash were next-door neighbors, with their residences approximately 20 meters away. Five years before, the accused had taken out a loan from the dead. After a year, he failed to return the money, and the two got into a fight.

Rumors surfaced in later years that Kailash was a practitioner of wizardry. The accused moved to Berhampur with his family and leased a property there when the locals began to view him suspiciously. He later traveled to Surat for employment and has now returned to his Berhampur rental home.

Kailash began going back to Badaagula village on a regular basis after his homecoming. Trilochan, a daily wagerer by trade, embarrassed him each time he visited the hamlet by demanding his money back.

The accused, furious at the ongoing humiliation, made the decision to remove Trilochan. On Thursday night, at around nine o’clock at night, Trilochan was sitting in front of a store when Kailash came on the scene brandishing a sword and began to assault him in front of the onlookers. Trilochan died quickly after suffering severe injuries to his head.

According to sources, Trilochan was left in a pool of blood as the accused fled the scene, surprising onlookers with the abrupt attack and leaving them unprepared.

After receiving information, Kabisuryanagar police arrived in the area and began looking for Kailash. The offender was apprehended by authorities after several raids. He was taken in custody along with the bloodstained clothing and the sword used in the crime. A postmortem was ordered for the corpse.

Meena said that Kailash was remanded in judicial custody after being brought in court on Friday. Investigations are still being conducted further.
