8 people have now died as a result of the Noida lift accident, and ex-gratia payments of Rs 25 lakh have been made to the families of the victims

Four additional employees died on Saturday, bringing the total of those killed in the lift tragedy in Noida to eight. The tragedy happened on Friday during a service lift’s free fall at a group housing society in Greater Noida West that was still under construction.

According to a senior official, families of those killed in the event have each received a cash settlement of Rs 25 lakh. Arbaaz Ali, 19, from Meerut, Kuldeep Pal, 20, from Kannauj, Maan Ali, 20, from Balrampur, and Mohammad Ali Khan, 18, from Amroha have been named as the victims, according to a statement released by the police on Saturday.

Under the supervision of the Supreme Court, the government-run NBCC is finishing the protracted project.

On Friday morning, a lift carrying nine employees collapsed from the 14th story of a tower that was still under construction at the Amrapali Dream Valley project site in Noida Extension.

Manish Verma, the district magistrate, said to PTI, “Four employees perished as a result of the event on Friday. Five of them were sent in serious condition to the neighborhood hospital. Of these, four more have passed away as a result of their wounds, and one worker is currently receiving medical attention.

Ishtaq Ali, 23, of the Balrampur district in Bihar, Arun Tanti Mandal, 40, of Banka in Bihar, Vipot Mandal, 45, of Katihar in Bihar, and Aris Khan, 22, of Amroha in Uttar Pradesh were the four laborers who passed away on Friday.

20 lakh rupees are from NBCC and five lakh rupees are from the court’s receiver (in the project) of the settlement amount, according to Verma.

The district magistrate said that NBCC had already given the compensation checks to the families of those murdered on Friday and will do the same for those who died on Saturday.

After seeing the victims, the district magistrate said that one of the victims is now in serious condition in a hospital’s intensive care unit. He said that as part of the case’s investigation, the police have sealed off unfinished structures close to the scene of the tragedy.

When questioned about the complaints made by certain employees regarding the project’s insufficient safety precautions, Verma said, “We are looking into these complaints and will have all under-construction sites investigated for safety infractions. If any negligence is discovered in this instance, it will also come to light throughout the inquiry, and appropriate measures will be taken against those responsible.

After a FIR was filed on Friday at the nearby Bisrakh Police Station, nine persons, including NBCC employees, were arrested in connection with the case on charges of carelessness and culpable murder, among other things, according to the police.

The Greater Noida Authority and the district government have both started inquiries into the incident.
