After his brother voiced his disapproval over the allocation of TMC tickets, Mamata Banerjee “disowned” him

Mamata Banerjee, the leader of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), disowned her younger brother Babun Banerjee on Wednesday after he voiced his disapproval of the party’s decision to renominate Prasun Banerjee for the West Bengal Lok Sabha seat of Howrah.

Speaking to reporters in Jalpaiguri, Banerjee lashed out at her brother for criticizing the party’s choice of candidates, saying, “Before every election, he creates a problem.” I detest those who are greedy. I won’t grant him a ticket to an election because I don’t believe in dynastic politics.

She said, according to PTI, “I have decided to disown him and cut off all relationships with him.”

Regarding rumours in the media that he would join the BJP, the chief minister of West Bengal said, “He can do whatever he wants to.” The party continues to support Prasun Banerjee, its official candidate.

Though he is now in New Delhi, Babun Banerjee refuted rumors that he will join the BJP and instead said that he is considering running for “Lok Sabha polls from the Howrah seat as an independent.”

“I disagree with the candidate chosen for the Howrah Lok Sabha seat. Making Prasun Banerjee your option is not wise. Numerous deserving applicants were passed aside, he said. Prasun Banerjee, a former football player, is a two-term TMC MP representing the Howrah constituency in the Lok Sabha.

It’s worth noting that the Banerjee siblings have fought in public before.

According to NDTV, Mamata Banerjee had already chastised her brother for disobeying safety regulations during the Covid-19 epidemic.
