AIMIM Chief Owaisi On West Bengal Poll Violence Deaths: “Innocent Muslims Are Just Sacrificial Lambs”

Asaduddin Owaisi, the leader of All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen, said that the violence during the West Bengal panchayat election turned innocent Muslims into “sacrificial lambs.”

After hearing about the deaths of 15 Muslims on election day, Owaisi posted on Twitter, saying, “These are the toxic fruits of opportunist’secularism’. Muslims who are innocent are only being sacrificed while the BJP and TMC compete for political power’s financial rewards.

On July 10, when claims of vote box manipulation and reports of the deaths of 15 persons surfaced, the West Bengal State Election Commission (SEC) ordered revoting in over 700 booths across 19 districts in the state.

There hasn’t been any significant violence recorded in any of the booths where there will be new voting on Monday.

An alleged altercation between TMC and Congress party members resulted in the stabbing of TMC member Motiur Rahman at a voting place in Malda district’s Baishannagar. According to reports, Rahman passed away from his wounds on route to the Malda Medical College and Hospital.

12 fatalities were recorded in the violence that erupted in the state during the elections as of Saturday night. Eight of them belonged to the government’s TMC, while the BJP, CPI(M), and Congress each had one supporter.
