Akhilesh Yadav requests virtual questioning in lieu of a CBI summons
Akhilesh Yadav, the president of the Samajwadi Party, addressed a letter to the CBI on Thursday instead of responding to their summons in the mining scam case.
Sources said that in his letter, the former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh requested that the CBI question him via video conference and record his testimony.
Additionally, Akhilesh attested to having responded in writing to the CBI summons.
The Sources claim that Akhilesh emailed the agency, saying, “I am prepared to assist with the investigation.” I may use video conferencing to connect from Lucknow.
He asked the CBI in his letter why the notification was delivered so soon before the elections. Why, in the five years since 2019, has no information (regarding the issue) been sought? What information about this case does the CBI want to hear from him?
When he was the state’s chief minister from 2012 to 2016, a FIR was filed over suspected illicit mining in Hamirpur. This is why the CBI sent the SP head this notification.
Akhilesh was reportedly called as a witness rather than an accused person.
