Arshad Khan, 28, was previously detained for drug trafficking; however, the Anti Narcotic Cell of the Navi Mumbai Crime Branch has now arrested Khan for acting as a wholesale supplier of mephedrone (MD). Due to the four previous convictions against him and his many incarcerations, he has developed a large network and is now a major player in the wholesale MD drug trade.

Khan, a Dombivli resident, had over 500 kilos of mephedrone worth about Rs 50 lakhs seized by the ANC, Navi Mumbai. Senior Police Inspector Neeraj Chaudhary of the ANC in Navi Mumbai said, “The accused was taken into custody from the Taloja area when he came for a transaction recently.” The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act has been used to book him.

The accused was first taken into custody by the Mumbra police in 2021 for the drug’s distribution of mephedrone. Subsequently, the Manpada police in Dombivli and the Navi Mumbai Anti Narcotics Cell both took him into custody. “He’s been arrested three times in the past three years.” He made relationships and launched a wholesaling company while he was incarcerated. According to a police official, after he was granted free, he limited his drug supply to big amounts across Mumbai and its surrounding areas.

According to investigations, Arshad Khan imported the medicines from Karnataka. “We discovered that the medicines came from a gentleman from Karnataka named Mohsin Pathan. Investigations are ongoing, and Pathan has been taken into custody. The officer said, “We are also attempting to sever the supply chain that leads to a plant where the medicines were being delivered.
