Andhra Pradesh: In the Kadapa district, a smuggler is detained and 101 red sanders logs are seized by a task team

Task Force members seized 101 red sander logs, a minitruck, and two motorbikes in the Poramamillu Forest region in the Kadapa district as part of a major crackdown on the smuggling of red sanders. In relation to the event, one smuggler was also captured.

Superintendent of Police (Task Force) P Srinivas disclosed the case information, saying that on Sunday, a team under the direction of DSP Chenchu Babu carried out a search operation in the Itikalapalli forest region of the Mallepalli division after receiving a tip.

They found a small vehicle parked next to Errabavi Cheruvu during the operation that was presumably meant to carry the illegal red sanders logs. While some of the smugglers were able to flee, Komi Rolu Ankaiah, a native of Muddireddipalli village in Kadapa district, was captured by Task Force members after they roped off the area.

The logs that were taken in were believed to be worth Rs 1 crore and weighed 2,959 kg. Two motorbikes as well as a cargo carrier were seized from the site. A search effort is in progress to apprehend the remaining fugitive smugglers connected to the case, according to SP Srinivas.
