Arvind Kejriwal gets a seventh summons from the Enforcement Directorate

Delhi, New: Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, received the seventh summons from the Enforcement Directorate on Thursday over the excise policy matter. He has been invited to appear before the agency on February 26.

The six prior summonses from ED have been disregarded by Arvind Kejriwal. An earlier statement from AAP this week said that Kejriwal would not be appearing before the agency since the summonses were unlawful and that the agency ought to have waited for the court’s ruling rather than persistently requesting his appearance.

“We have responded to every ED summons. The final day of the hearing was February 17th, and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was essentially present. The hearing is scheduled on March 16th. As law-abiding citizens, we shall abide with the court’s decision. ED ought to have awaited the case’s judgment. Thus, this is the incorrect summons,” Priyanka Kakkar, an AAP spokesman, said on Monday.

Kejriwal was sued by the Enforcement Directorate in a Delhi court for allegedly ignoring its summonses. In accordance with Section 50 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), the agency has filed a new complaint case under Sections 190 (1)(a) and 200 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, Section 174 of the Indian Penal Code, and Section 63 (4) of the PMLA for non-attendance.

Kejriwal was summoned to appear before the Rouse Avenue Court via video conference on February 17, but he did not show up.

Kejriwal has come under fire from the Congress and BJP for ignoring the summons.

“Regardless of the ED’s goals, we should always participate in the legal system and carry out our obligations. Former Congress MP Sandeep Dikshit said on Monday, “I say that you (Arvind Kejriwal) should go to the ED and present your point to finish the matter.”

The BJP national spokesman, Shehzad Poonawala, has referred to him as a “fugitive” or “bhagoda.”

“He is now ‘bhagoda’ the greatest. As the driving force behind the booze fraud, he has something to conceal. The summons are valid, according to the court, and you should respond to them. However, you are still claiming that the summons is unlawful, he said on Monday.

Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh, two AAP leaders, have been incarcerated for months on similar accusations.

According to the AAP, Kejriwal would be arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in order to prevent him from running for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
