Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest: “Won’t Be Surprising If He Is Arrested” by Sharad Pawar

Shirdi: Nationalist Congress Party president Sharad Pawar backed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday, claiming the Center was abusing its authority to intimidate people with different political beliefs.

Speaking to party employees, Mr. Pawar said that he was afraid of being detained himself and that the chief minister of Jharkhand, Hemant Soren, had also received a summons from the central investigation agency.

People have elected Mr. Kejriwal to power during the last ten years, according to Mr. Pawar, who also said that Aam Aadmi Party ministers have been imprisoned and that efforts are on to arrest Mr. Kejriwal.

Notices to appear before the Enforcement Directorate have been sent to him. the head of state of the nation’s capital. Everyone in Delhi is aware of his modest nature and uncluttered appearance. If he is arrested, it won’t come as a surprise, Mr. Pawar said.

“This means efforts are being made to discourage those who do not have similar political views by misusing power,” said Mr. Pawar.

The national convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Mr. Kejriwal, had not shown up for the Enforcement Directorate summons on Wednesday.

Thus far, the Enforcement Directorate has issued three summonses to him for interrogation about a money laundering case related to the purported liquor fraud. He has declined all of them.

The excise policy 2021–22, which was abandoned by Kejriwal’s administration last year after Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena suggested a CBI investigation into “lapses and irregularities” in its execution, is linked to the alleged booze scandal.
