As a result of the BJP’s broken promises, Digvijay and the JJP parted ways

Digvijay Chautala, secretary general of the Jannayak Janata Party (JJP), reacted on the breakup of the BJP-JJP alliance, pointing out that the JJP had a 20 per cent stake in the administration and elections and that the BJP had neglected to provide his party two Lok Sabha seats.

He said that the JJP split because the BJP had vowed to keep its promises to them, but had failed to do so. They are now in opposition and are ready to run for ten seats in the Lok Sabha.

According to him, the JJP just asked for two seats, which was their legal prerogative, and did not insist on seat sharing.

The JJP said that their demands were reasonable and that they would have had outside backing if the BJP had honoured its pledges to Dushyant Chautala and accepted the Rs 5,100 monthly old-age pension. But, he claimed, the BJP was not in favour of it.
