As new clashes are reported, Bengal Guv monitors the situation in violent Cooch Behar

Cooch Behar district, which was the scene of recent election-related violence, was under the control of West Bengal Governor C V Ananda Bose, according to authorities.

Conflicts on Saturday night in the Dinhata region resulted in five injuries.

According to authorities, one of those hurt was related to a TMC candidate.

From the Cooch Behar Circuit House, where he is residing, Bose kept an eye on the situation throughout the night and gave orders to the District Magistrate, SP, and State Election Commissioner Rajiva Sinha, according to authorities.

A senior Raj Bhavan official spoke to PTI over the phone and said, “The governor visited the hospital on Sunday morning where the five injured people are receiving treatment and may also visit the spot where the clashes took place.”

Bose also contacted with hospital administrators, requesting that they provide the wounded persons with the finest care possible.

He called Cooch Behar’s DM and SP and requested that they uphold the law and make the necessary arrests.

Bose has met the relatives of those killed and wounded in violent episodes in Dinhata while traveling across the state’s northern regions.

For the purpose of responding to reports of violence and intimidation, the Raj Bhavan has established a “peace home” and a 24-hour phone line. The SEC or the chief secretary are contacted right once to discuss the issues.

On July 8, about 74,000 seats in zilla parishads, panchayat samiti, and gram panchayats will be up for election in the state’s three-tier panchayat elections, which are open to around 5.67 crore voters.
