Demanding compensation for the man’s death, the man’s relatives and locals demonstrated outside the Salarpur powerhouse on Monday, one day after he was electrocuted to death after coming into touch with a high-tension wire.

The demonstrators wanted action taken against the electricity department because they believed it was acting negligently.

According to a family member, the tragedy happened late on Sunday at a location in Greater Noida that is within the jurisdiction of the Dankaur police station.

Hukum Singh, a Salarpur, Danakur native and Virendra’s uncle, claims that the event took place during an evening family gathering on their terrace.

The tragedy, according to the deceased’s family and relatives, was caused by a high-tension overhead wire that runs extremely near to their home.

The family said that despite previous concerns about the wires, nothing was done and accused the power discom of “inaction” and “negligence.”

According to Gautam Budh Nagar police, a local police station police squad attended the protest location, allowing the demonstration to conclude and the crowd to disperse.

“A complaint was made, and an investigation is under progress. And there will be more action. Sanjay Singh, the station house officer of the Dankaur police station, said that no case has been filed yet.

Authorities of the electricity discom, Paschimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (PVVNL), which oversees Dankaur in Greater Noida, said that the incident has been reported to the Uttar Pradesh government’s Directorate of Electrical Safety.
