Bengaluru police identified 59 accident-prone sites amid an increase in occurrences

According to statistics from the Bengaluru traffic police, there are now two deaths and 13 accidents every day in the city of Bengaluru. A total of 3,706 incidents were recorded in Bengaluru between January and September of this year, resulting in 651 fatalities and 3,155 injuries.

The Bengaluru traffic police have identified 59 areas in the city that are especially prone to accidents in an effort to solve this problem. The majority of these occurrences have happened outside of the city, with Tumakuru Road, the vicinity of Peenya, Yeshwanthpur, and Jalahalli having some of the highest accident rates. Similar to this, the area near the airport flyover in the North division has become a hotbed for accidents.

The police are actively working on steps to reduce accidents in these identified blackspots, according to MN Anucheth, the joint commissioner of police (Traffic), Bengaluru. “Our main goal is to work with local government organizations to reorganize and put in place changes that can help prevent such accidents,” he said.

The designated “black spots,” which are divided into State Highways, National Highways, Ring highways, and other city highways, are spread among several jurisdictional police stations and traffic police divisions, the speaker said. A number of safety measures, he said, will be put in place to address the problem, including the installation of accident zone signboards, the building of skywalks, the installation of cat eyes and blinkers, CCTV cameras, and higher center medians.

On NICE (Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises) road, one of the remodeled accident hotspots was recently unveiled by the traffic police as part of this effort. The grade was lowered at this specific 1.5 km section, which had before resembled a valley where fast cars often collided. “The height of the road was raised by four meters as part of the change. According to Shiva Prakash Devaraju, deputy commissioner of police (Traffic), Bengaluru South, other features include beam guards, high-mast lights, CCTV cameras, speedometers, and solar lights.
