Bhubaneswar: IDCO’s general manager is detained on charges of corruption

Saroj Kanta Mohanty, the Chief General Manager of IDCO (personnel and administration), was detained by Vigilance on Wednesday due to allegations that he had disproportionate assets (DA) totaling 153% of his recognized sources of income.

According to sources, Mohanty was discovered in possession of DA totaling Rs 2.6 crore. Following accusations that Mohanty had accumulated wealth via unethical methods, the anti-corruption bureau searched the property associated with him on Tuesday. He and his family were discovered to be in possession of a three-story structure situated on 6,200 square feet of property in Cuttack’s Naya Bazaar, a two-story building in the Brahmabarada town of Jajpur, and three-bedroom apartments in Bhubaneswar and Baranga.

Ten plots, seven of which were in upscale districts of Cuttack and the capital city, gold and silver jewelry weighing 703 and 869 grams, respectively, bank, insurance, and postal deposits totaling Rs 70.55 lakh, a four-wheeler, a couple of two-wheelers, and household items valued at over Rs 20.88 lakh were also discovered to be in Mohanty’s possession.

An OAS (high administrative grade) officer named Mohanty was discovered to be in possession of disproportionate assets for which he was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation. More investigation is being conducted after his detention, according to a Vigilance officer.
