BJP MP Ravi Kishan writes to the speaker requesting action against Danish Ali for his “personal” remark, according to Ramesh Bidhuri

In a letter sent on Sunday, BJP MP Ravi Kishan asked Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to take action against BSP MP Kunwar Danish Ali for disparaging him when the group was proposing a private member bill known as the “Population Control Bill” Ravi said in his letter to the speaker that Ali said the MP was presenting the population measure in the house even though he was already the father of four children.

“In the present instance, I would like to call your kind attention to Shri Kunwar Danish Ali’s habit and behavior of heckling during the debate or participation in the House of another Member of Parliament in the past. He had insulted me in an unparliamentary manner twice. Shri Danish Ali attempted to interrupt me on December 9, 2022, as I was introducing my Private Members Bill, entitled “The Population Control Bill, 2019,” in the House. He also made snide remarks about me, claiming that I was introducing a Private Members Bill despite having four children of his own. Part of the letter states that such poor behavior is unacceptable and needs to be looked into by your respected office.

A commotion broke out a few days ago when BSP MP Kunwar Danish Ali was called names in the house by BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri. The leaders of the opposition collectively denounced Bidhuri’s comment and demanded harsh punishment for him. The saffron party gave its MP a 15-day deadline to respond to a show-cause notice that it issued on him. Additionally, the remark was removed from the Lok Sabha records.

In a subsequent interview with the media, Ali said that he had filed a privilege motion against BJP MP Bidhuri and that, if the Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla did not take action against Bidhuri, he could think about resigning from the House.

After the Parliamentary debacle, Rahul Gandhi, the former head of the Congress, paid a visit to the BSP MP. He urged that Bidhuri be punished for insulting Danish Ali. Adhir Chowdhury, a leader for the Congress in the Lok Sabha, wrote to Om Birla about the event and said that such language was never used against a member of a minority group in the history of Parliament, much alone in front of the Speaker. He asked that the BJP MP face punishment.
