BJP was voted for in the RS election “to save Himachaliyat,” disqualifying the Congress MLA

In an attempt “to save Himachaliyat,” Chaitnaya Sharna, a disqualified Congress MLA from Kutlehar in the Una district, said today that he voted for BJP candidate Harsh Mahajan in the Rajya Sabha elections.

In a live video chat, Sharma said that the six MLAs who were disqualified for voting in favor of the BJP nominee in the Rajya Sabha elections did not break any laws. He refuted the claim that he crossed over for the sake of prestige or power, saying, “My only desire is to serve the people of Gagret and the development of the constituency, and soon I will be among you to seek your blessings.”

“I am really proud of the six of us; what we did can be called, in a word, a Raj Virodh.” Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the chief minister, drew criticism from him for acting in an autocratic manner and failing to show trust to everyone.

“We voted as per our conscience in the Rajya Sabha elections,” Sharma said, trying to defend his actions and defying the party whip for the first time since he had cast a cross-party ballot in the election. “Voting for the Rajya Sabha elections at large does not take place on political lines,” he said.
