Chhattisgarh Experienced A Weak Shaking, But There Were No Casualties

The border region of the districts of Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi (GPM) and Korba in Chhattisgarh saw a small earthquake with a magnitude of 3.6 on Sunday morning, according to the authorities. Aftershocks were felt in some areas of the two districts, but according to the authorities, there have been no reports of any casualties or damage to property as a result of the earthquakes.

An official from the Meteorological department in this region stated, “A tremor of 3.6 magnitude was felt in Pendra town and adjoining areas at 9.09 am, with its epicentre five kilometers deep from the earth’s surface in Chandauti village, on the border of Korba and GPM districts.” This information was provided by the official in the Meteorological department.

According to the official, the earthquake was in the ‘mild’ category, which means that it did not inflict significant damage. However, the epicenter of the earthquake was situated at a depth of just five kilometers (from the surface of the earth), which means that it may cause damage to homes located within a radius of twenty kilometers, as he said. According to the statements made by officials, the local authorities have been given the directive to closely watch the situation and report back if any harm has been inflicted.
