CJI declares the opening of the “SuSwagatam” site for electronic passes to the Supreme Court

The Supreme Court on Thursday announced the opening of the “SuSwagatam” site, which would let attorneys, guests, interns, and others register online and get electronic permits to attend the supreme court.

A five-judge panel led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud convened to hear a number of appeals challenging the repeal of Article 370 of the Constitution, which granted the former state of Jammu and Kashmir special status. The CJI made note of this internet service at that time.

SuSwagatam is a web-based and mobile-friendly program that enables users to register themselves online and apply for e-passes for a variety of reasons, the CJI stated.

To access SuSwagatam, go here.

According to Justice Chandrachud, “The ‘SuSwagatam’ portal was tested as a pilot project since July 25, 2023 and has received positive feedback from the users.”

As of August 9, he said, the site had given more than 10,000 e-passes on a trial basis.

“You are exempt from standing in line in the morning. Every pass is produced online. The CJI said that this facility is now open as of this morning.

There used to be a big line for the admission permit in the morning at the top court’s counter, said Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, who was present in the courtroom.

A video lesson on how to utilize the program is also accessible on the Internet, according to Justice Chandrachud.
