Congress General Secretary Regarding Party’s Inaugural Participation in Ram Mandir Ceremony: “You Will Find Out…”

On Thursday, the Congress expressed gratitude for the invites it received from the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust to attend the January 22 consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. The party did not, however, disclose whether or not its senior leadership would be present for the event.

Invitations to the function were sent to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, and party leader in the Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.

At a news conference, Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal said, “You will know about the party’s stand.” On January 22, you will be informed of your participation. Venugopal expressed gratitude to the Trust for the invitation, saying, “Let us (see). We are very much thankful to them for inviting us.”

However, sources told news agency PTI that it’s doubtful that the top congressional leaders would be present for the event.

Invitations to the celebration on January 22 have also been sent to former prime ministers Manmohan Singh and HD Deve Gowda, as well as former president Pratibha Patil. On the list of invitees are the leaders of every political party.

According to the sources, further invites will probably be sent in the next few days to other opposition figures.

In addition to political figures, the Trust said that notable figures who uphold the nation’s honor—saints of all cultures—have also been invited to the event.

The Trust said that invitations to attend the event had been sent to more than 4,000 saints from various religions.

In addition to political figures, the Trust said that distinguished people who uphold the honor of the country in all spheres, including saints highly esteemed in other cultures, have also been invited to the event.

The occasion will also include invitations to spiritual leaders Dalai Lama, yoga master Baba Ramdev, Kerala’s Mata Amritanandamayi, and leaders of temples like as Kashi Vishwanath and Vaishno Devi.

Among the others on the invitation list are actors Rajnikanth, Madhuri Dixit, Arun Govil, and Amitabh Bachchan; film director Madhur Bhandarkar; and businessmen Mukesh and Anil Ambani.

The Trust said that a Tent City with six tube wells, six cook buildings, and a ten-bed hospital had been erected at the new Teerthakshetrapuram (Bag Bijaisi).

In Ayodhya, preparations are well underway for the temple’s opening. Before the pran pratishtha puja, which is scheduled to start on January 16 and end on January 22, the setup is probably going to be finished by January 15.
